Beer gets costlier in Karnataka

Beer prices in Karnataka have been revised with new rates effective from January 20. The new prices are based on alcohol content, categorised into two slabs: Mild beers ( under 5 percent alcohol) at Rs 12 per bulk litre and strong beers (5-8 percent alcohol) at Rs 20 pbl. Previously, the excise duty was uniform at Rs 10 pbl for all beer types. The minimum price for a 650 ml bottle of a strong beer is now 145, seeing a significant increase.
