After much deliberation the iconic square bottle was chosen with Daniel commenting that it was “A square bottle for a square shooter”. Until 1987 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey (with the black label) had an alcohol content of 45%, which translates to 90 U.S. Proof (45% alcohol volume) Jack Daniel’s black label is reduced to 86 Proof.
