Photo: PubClub.com Notable restaurants are George’s At the Cove (pricey), Eddie V’s for steaks La Dolce Vita just across Prospect Street for simple yet excellent Italian food (I especially like the fact they do very generous wine pours) and the botique Beeside Balcony , which has a live music and a speakeasy in the back.

There is no live music, but the place rocks. Live music can be found at d.b.a., It’s mostly for after-work, Happy Hour happy times. On the other end of the bar spectrum is the Howlin’ Wolf, a howling 1,000-capacity live music venue (828 South Peters, 522-WOLF).

I pulled up a chair at Baja Beach Cafe one sunny afternoon and after ordering a margarita, the waiter said “it’s Happy Hour, so you get two. ” That’s someone I relate to; the Happy Hour is 2-4-1 4-7 weekdays and there’s a late-night Happy Hour 10:30-12:30 every night.
