Review: Flora Springs 2023 Soliloquy and 2021 Trilogy

With the 2021 Trilogy, the first wines from this transition have now arrived. It’s almost biting on the finish, with a lightly bitter touch that feels like it needs a reprise of some (less acidic) fruit to balance things out. Very little here telegraphs sauvignon blanc to me. Never heavy in the slightest — at 14.2%

Review: Argiano 2018 Brunello di Montalcino and 2021 Non Confunditur

Pale in color with a tinge of purple to it, the wine is an exercise in restraint, featuring notes of underripe cherries leaning into a more bitter, bracing rhubarb character with time in glass. Graphite and anise provide an ample mineral-earthy quality, while the finish of brewed black tea pours on herbaceous notes.

We always light up when new releases from Chalk Hill arrive.
