Only 108 bottles of the 40 year old blend have been produced. Chapters Three and Four are expected to be released in 2025 and 2026 respectively, with Chapter Five coming in 2027, marking Ballantine’s 200th anniversary. The resulting whisky, bottled at 45.4% Chapter One, The Remembering , was released in 2023.

If the recent release trends continue, this year’s Barrel Strength Rye will be the last until 2027 with a Toasted Rye expression on deck instead for 2026. Michter’s, like lots of other Kentucky distilleries, could be so awash in whiskey now that they deliver both limited edition, rye options in the coming year.
