Allegedly, Walker wanted to revive age statements originally used by William Teacher & Sons’ blends in the 1960s, but it quickly became an open secret that the age statement bottlings contained considerably older stocks – the peak for The Glendronach 15 Year Old was in 2015, when consumers were actually enjoying a 21 Year Old whisky.

Then banana flambéed, coconut… Then some high-end wine (great old Pomerol – no, not just any merlot)… Then chicory… Then lots of pineapple liqueur, Malibu, old Muscat wine. One of these bottles sold in October 2015 for £3,300 at Whisky Online Auctions. Bold, coating… Gets then quite smoky, with some mocha. Really breathtaking.

The texture and aroma are derived from its unique production from the blend of Grain and Single Pot still whiskey, as similar to the single malt whiskey (mash of malted and un-malted barley), small amount of Oats and wheat may have been used at time. As the Madeira cask earlier used to age the Madeira wine.
